Nintendo Switch With 7-Inch OLED Display Expected This Year

A Switch with a larger, more vibrant display could be on store shelves this summer.
nintendo-switch-repair-pcexpertservices

Nintendo won’t talk about what’s coming next for its Switch hardware, but a new leak suggests we are going to get a new Switch model with a larger, OLED touch screen before the end of 2021.

The Switch model on the market today uses a 6.2-inch 720p LCD panel, while the Switch Lite uses a smaller, 5.5-inch 720p LCD panel. As Bloomberg reports, “people familiar with the plan” believe Nintendo is planning to introduce a new model with a 7-inch 720p Samsung OLED panel, with Samsung expected to start shipping around a million units of the display a month starting in June.

By switching to OLED, Nintendo can offer more vibrant colors and deeper blacks while at the same time keeping power draw to a minimum. The move to a larger panel also suggests a slightly larger Switch, which would allow for a larger battery. However, it’s also possible this new Switch could be the same size as the existing model, but with smaller screen bezels.

Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti for Laptops

Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti for Laptops

If the 3050 Ti is real, the GPU will probably be packed in laptops under $1,000, opening the door for more affordable PC gaming with the latest graphics technology.

Asus may have accidentally leaked details about an Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU coming to laptops. The GPU model is mentioned in the tech specs for one of Asus’s latest laptops, the TUF Dash F15, which went on sale last month.

The product’s web page originally listed a mysterious “GN20-P0” chip under the graphics options you could buy for the laptop. But on Friday the tech specs had been updated to explicitly state the name RTX 3050 Ti.

Based on the web page, the 3050 Ti will feature 4GBs of GDDR6 RAM, which is down from the 6GBs found in the laptop-based RTX 3060.

But if the 3050 Ti is real, the GPU will probably be packed in laptops under $1,000, opening the door for more affordable PC gaming with the latest graphics technology. Currently, the TUF Dash F15 with the RTX 3060 is being sold for $1,099.

In January, Nvidia announced the first trio of RTX 3000 GPUs for laptops with the RTX 3060, 3070, and 3080. PC vendors including Alienware, Gigabyte, and Razer have all begun to incorporate them into their gaming laptops at prices from $1,000 to $2,000 plus.

The GPUs also provide an alternative for anyone struggling to buy the desktop graphics cards in the RTX 3000 series, which continue to sell out in minutes at all the major retailers.

However, if you decide to buy a laptop with an RTX 3000 GPU, we’d advise you to first check out reviews of the specific product model. In recent tests the laptop-based RTX 3070, including on the Asus TUF Dash F15, and it is noticed that performance can vary depending on how the GPU is implemented on the hardware. It’s also important to note GPUs built for laptops usually pack less performance than the desktop versions.

Why is my Mac Slow?

If you find your Mac is running slowly, there are a number of potential causes that you can check.

Your computer’s startup disk may not have enough free disk space. To make disk space available, you can move files to another disk or an external storage device, then delete files you no longer need on the startup disk.

macOS can also help you optimize storage by storing files in the cloud and helping you identify files you no longer need.

Is your computer slow? Keep crashing? We've got a fix

An app you’re using may require more memory than your Mac has easily available. To see how much memory your Mac has, choose Apple menu > About This Mac, then check the amount of memory listed in the Overview pane. See the documentation that came with the app to find out its system requirements.

To find out how to increase your computer’s memory, choose Apple menu > About This Mac, click Memory, then click Memory Upgrade Instructions in the lower-right corner. (Not available on all computers.)

Quit any app that isn’t compatible with your Mac. For example, an app may require a different processor or graphics card. See the documentation that came with the app for information about its system requirements.

To see what processor your computer has, choose Apple menu > About This Mac, then click Overview.

To see what graphics card your computer has, choose Apple menu > About This Mac, then click Displays. The name of the graphics card in your computer is displayed in the middle of the window.

The MacBook Pro with an Apple M1 Chip Is the Best 13-Inch Laptop You Can Buy

The MacBook Pro with an Apple M1 Chip Is the Best 13-Inch Laptop You Can Buy

The M1 chip was the centerpiece of Apple’s “One More Thing” product event from November 2020. The groundbreaking hardware bit debuted on the Mac mini, the MacBook Air, as well as the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Key Specs

• Apple M1 chip with 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU, Neural Engine
• 13.3-inch Retina display with True Tone Technology, P3 color gamut
• 8/16GB of RAM; up to 2TB SSD
• Touch Bar & Touch ID fingerprint sensor
• Two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 3/USB 4 compatibility

The MacBook Pro with an M1 chip has the same design and 13-inch Retina display panel as the Intel-equipped model. It also has the same keyboard, trackpad, and Touch Bar.

All About the M1 Chip

The Apple M1 is the first computer chip that’s built via a 5-nanometer process. The technology has packed 16 billion transistors—microscopic computer processor building blocks—into a minuscule space. The same process has been used in the making of the industry-leading A14 Bionic chip that powers the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.

By combining all essential components (CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, memory) together into one chip, the M1 delivers unmatched blend of power and energy efficiency. According to Apple, the chip is up to two times more capable than its rivals in terms of graphics and processing power. Compared to the eighth-generation Intel Core chips found in the previous entry-level MacBook Pro, the performance leap is even bigger.

Because of the M1 chip and the optimized software for it, the new MacBook Pro made quick work of my busy work tasks—frequently switching between a double-digit number of open browser tabs, an email client, Slack, Spotify, Zoom, and Affinity Photo, among other apps.

A High Watermark for Battery Performance

Calling the battery life of the 13-inch MacBook Pro with an M1 chip epic is an understatement. With up to 17 hours of web browsing and 18 hours of video streaming between charges, the notebook delivers more screen-on time than any other MacBook.

However, the above numbers are not what will entice you. Instead, it will likely be the new MacBook Pro’s ability to consistently deliver insane battery life from mixed use.

Conclusion

Apple offers the 13-inch MacBook Pro with an M1 chip with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 2TB of SSD storage. Unless you really need the bigger memory options (up to 32GB of RAM and up to 4TB of storage respectively), as well as the additional USB-C ports that the pricier 13-inch Pro with an Intel processor offers, this is the compact MacBook to get.

The MacBook Air with an Apple M1 chip, on the other hand, has excellent performance and battery life in a more elegant form factor — with no cooling fans — for less. However, it’s important to note that the GPU of the entry-level variant is not as capable as the MacBook Pro’s—upgrading it will bring their pricing almost on par. Its Retina display has a lower maximum brightness, too.

water-damaged-iphone-ipad-pcexpertservices

1. Turn it Off

If water spills onto your iPhone or it accidentally falls into water the first thing you should do once your retrieve it from the water is to turn it off. If it is already off then don’t turn it on. The truth is water conducts electricity and the worst part is if the water that came into contact with your iPhone was salty water it is a good conductor of electricity. Leaving your iPhone on after the incident will result in more damage because the water will conduct electricity and end up short-circuiting important components of the phone. However, by switch it off immediately you control the damage by stopping electric flow in the devices. This saves your phone from damaging its internal parts.
2. Remove the External Casing and the SIM Card
An iPhone or iPad is a very valuable device for most people. For this reason, many people buy an external casing to protect their prized iPhone from external damage. In case the iPhone falls into water the next steps you should take after turning it off is to remove the external casing. This will create room for you to be able to wipe off all the water. After removing the casing make sure that you remove the SIM card. Use a paperclip to remove the SIM card trey.
3. Wipe off the Water
It is only natural if water spills onto your iPhone or iPad you should wipe the water off at the earliest opportunity you get. The same things should happen when your iPhone or iPad falls into water. Use a soft towel to wipe the water off the external body of your prized iPhone or iPad. Do this with a lot of care and without applying too much pressure to avoid further damage to the device. Wipe all around to ensure that there is no water or moisture left.
4. Place the iPhone or iPad in a Warm Dry Place
You need to dry the iPhone or iPad and get rid of moisture and water droplets from both the exterior and the interior of the device. The best way to do this is to place the iPhone or iPad in a warm and dry place to enable the water to evaporate. If it is during the day in the summer place the iPhone or iPad near a window in the direction of the sun. It should not be exposed to the sun but in a place to receive the warmth from the sun. If it is during the winter or at knight then consider placing in on top of your television if the television is on or under a burning lamp. These should provide sufficient warmth to cause the water to evaporate.
5. Use Silica to Dry the iPhone or iPad

Other than letting the iPhone or iPad dry in a warm and dry place you should take further measures to ensure that all the water both inside and outside dry up before attempting to put the phone or iPad on. One of the best ways to remove moisture from the iPhone or iPad is the use of silica gel packets. You can get these silica gel packets from the boxes you used to buy electronics or alternatively you can check your local stores if they are available. Place a few silica gel packets on a flat surface, place your iPhone or iPad on top and then cover your iPhone or iPad with some more packets. This will help absorb more moisture leaving your iPhone or iPad dry.

6. Use Uncooked Rice to Dry your iPhone or iPad
Other than dry uncooked rice, the hair dryer is another great device that you should use to remove moisture from your iPhone or iPad. If your iPhone or iPad got submerged into water, then you should consider using the hair dryer to remove any water that got inside. This is especially important because no other drying method can do the job better. It is important to be extra careful when using a hairdryer. Turn the dryer to low power and then slowly blow over your iPhone or iPad focusing in orifices and other places that could have let water deeper into inner parts. The warm air should push moisture out of iPhone or iPad leaving it dry as it can be.
8. Dismantle the iPhone or iPad

Once you have used several drying methods such as the drying in a warm place, silica packages, dry rice, and the hairdryer, try to turn on your iPhone or iPad. If it does not turn on, then you should consider taking the phone apart. Use the manual to dismantle the iPhone or iPad and be careful in doing so that you don’t damage anything. Once you remove the casing and larger parts such as the battery you should dry the iPhone or iPad again to ensure that all the moisture on the inside dries up. You can then assemble it and try switching it on again.

“This step should be performed by an expert like PC Expert Services. We highly recommend not to take your iPhone or iPad apart if you do not know how. Please submit the drop off form at PC Expert Services and bring in your iPhone and iPad for further repair.”

9. Take it to an Expert

If after trying all the tips above your phone or iPad still has a few issues then the only logical thing to do is to take it to PC Expert Services. This is the safest way to get the problem resolved.

“Please bring in your iPhone or iPad to PC Expert Services. We highly recommend not to take your iPhone or iPad apart if you do not know how. Please submit the drop off form at PC Expert Services and bring in your iPhone and iPad for further professional repair for your iPhone or iPad.”

10. Buy a waterproof case
Once the problem is resolved, then it is time to take care of the future. This can be done by getting a new waterproof case for your iPhone or iPad. The casing will help prevent water damaging your iPhone or iPad should it fall in water again in future.
