A Switch with a larger, more vibrant display could be on store shelves this summer.

Nintendo won’t talk about what’s coming next for its Switch hardware, but a new leak suggests we are going to get a new Switch model with a larger, OLED touch screen before the end of 2021.

The Switch model on the market today uses a 6.2-inch 720p LCD panel, while the Switch Lite uses a smaller, 5.5-inch 720p LCD panel. As Bloomberg reports, “people familiar with the plan” believe Nintendo is planning to introduce a new model with a 7-inch 720p Samsung OLED panel, with Samsung expected to start shipping around a million units of the display a month starting in June.

By switching to OLED, Nintendo can offer more vibrant colors and deeper blacks while at the same time keeping power draw to a minimum. The move to a larger panel also suggests a slightly larger Switch, which would allow for a larger battery. However, it’s also possible this new Switch could be the same size as the existing model, but with smaller screen bezels.
